TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL May 17: STEP ASIDE is set for a good campaign after strong work to win his 900m heat with plenty in reserve (56.83; 35.87). Travelled wide before closing on the lead and doing it easily under a good hold. The new owners of the classy filly TUTTA LA VITA would be pleased with the way she worked home from the back for a strong fourth in a classy 900m heat.

RANDWICK May 16: There were some strong 2YO heats featuring some classy youngsters including the fast two-time winner SPYWIRE. He won the fastest of the six heats over 737m (43.33; 33.24) after tracking wide in the better ground. The margin was less than a length but he was doing it easily for a soft win. The John O’Shea-trained AVEBURY worked well to win the fastest open heat over 1045m (63.85; 34.89).

WARWICK FARM May 7: Some big names brought unexpected class to this full set held on the polytrack due to the wet weather. As always it’s hard to read a lot into poly trials as few horses come off the bit but GLOBAL EMPIRE worked strongly to win a high quality heat over 740m (43.50; 32.69). ACCREDITED did just as well to win a heat full of Group winners over the same distance in much slower time (44.56; 33.45).

ROSEHILL May 2: Among the Chris Waller-trained youngsters to take the eye with their easy work was the unraced INDIGO STAR.

RANDWICK April 30: A feature of the 2YO trials were the performances of some high priced yearlings including a heat win by the $1.3 million colt BRAVEHEART. The unraced I Am Invincible youngster produced his best effort in four trials to win his 1050m heat (62.76; 34.99) in good style. Maidens to watch out for include TARTAGLIA.

RANDWICK April 15: The fastest 737m heat was won in good style by FAMOUS PEDRILLE (42.58; 32.63), travelling strongly on the bit in the lead from start to finish. Unraced Castelvecchio colt SHANGRI LA SPRING is yet another fast running youngster from Tulloch Lodge. Having his first trial, he was four lengths in front after 150m and kept running freely under no pressure to score by 3.5 lengths in fast time (42.63; 32.68).

RECENT TRIAL WATCH WINNERS: Commemorative; Kerguelen; How Dare You; Bat Out Of Hell; Setombe; Unleeshing; Navy Blood; Pink Baroque; Be Real; Glenbower; Clean Energy; Emirate; Zoe’s Promise; Contemporary; Rise Of The Masses; Parisal; Graceful Artist; Lizzie’s Gem; Spring Lee; Waterford; Highlights; Ikasara; Redbreast; Jedibeel; Call Me Gorgeous
