She comes through the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington a fortnight ago running 2nd to TOBEORNOTTOBE, who she meets 2kg better off at the weights here. I thought her straight track run had plenty of merit, she jumped from barrier 1 and was in the inferior part of the track for straight racing that day. Drawn well to sit in behind a solid tempo and have last say with J-Mac in the saddle.

Race 7 – G1 SYDNEY CUP Hcp (3200 METRES)

#12 Circle Of Fire – $4.8

Won last week’s G2 Chairman’s Quality (2600m) in impressive fashion closing from the back. 7 day backup and rise in trip still look to suit this exciting import for Ciaron Maher. He’s the one on the up.

Race 8 – G1 QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES WFA (2000 METRES)

Pride of Jenni – $4.2

She is as gutsy as they come and at $4.2 I have to entertain her as a bet. The 2000m was the question mark in the Australian Cup and although she got nabbed late by the Benjamin Button of racing, CASCADIAN, she certainly still ticked the 2000m box in defeat. All the hype is around import VIA SISTINA. Her win in the Ranvet was courtesy of the the most pedestrian pace you are likely to see in a G1 race where they ran 21.2L outside the CA to the 600m, vastly different setup here.

Race 9 – G1 QUEEN OF THE TURF F&M WFA (1600 METRES)

#14 Tropical Squall – $7/$2.5

You know what ya gonna get with this filly. Hippo to press forward from barrier 3 and dictate proceedings as the only natural leader of the race. Ran a big career peak figure last prep when winning 3rd up in the G1 Flight Stakes (1600m). I expect the same again this time in.

Race 10 – G2 SAPPHIRE STAKES (1200 METRES)

#1 Red Card – $2.6

In a race with average speed, RED CARD looks the obvious leader from the wide draw. Adam Hyeronimus rides this Mare a treat, 2/2 in the saddle and tick over trial between runs has her ready to win at 1200m. Back late as you are likely to get a better price closer to jump.
