Bendigo Race Previews 6-10: Saturday 13th April By Dean McHugh

12 April, 2024

Race 6: Off The Track Handicap (1100m)

Another sixteen-runner field awaits in our sixth contest, and once again, this race looks incredibly tough to call. Garza Blanca got his career off to a flying start, but has only posted one win in his last eight starts. Although he is likely to take his place at the top of the market, there will be others hopeful of taking him on.

Boldinho, End Assembly, Is It Me, and Wolflands all look capable of landing a race of this calibre.

Race 7: Catanachs Jewellers Bendigo Gold Bracelet (1400m)

Another Open race awaits in our seventh race, and several horses look to hold a great chance of victory.

Belle Et Riche has competed in several graded races and is returning to Open company for the first time in a while. By no means prolific, she will be seeking a first win in her last eight races.

Papillon Club will be many people’s leading fancy, and she will be looking for a fourth win of her career. She is another who will be looking to win for the first time in six starts.

Sirileo Miss, Nunthorpe, and Lady Jones are others who merit serious consideration.

Race 8: RSN 945 Am Bendigo Guineas (1400m)

One of the most prestigious races of the day is the Bendigo Guineas, worth $120,000 to the winner. Roll on High is expected to lead the sixteen-horse field in the betting.

Having been unable to land a blow in Graded company, her connections will hope she can return to the winner’s circle in these slightly calmer waters.

Sunshineinmypocket is the most intriguing runner in the race, having won all three of his career starts, this is the most competitive race he would have run in but he could well continue his upward trajectory.

Race 9: Bet365 Golden Mile (1600m)

The lucrative races keep on coming with the Bet365 Golden Mile. In what looks a hugely wide-open affair, Euphoric looks like being one of the more popular selections of the race.

Having won three of his first five starts, he is now without a win in any of his last three runs and will hope to put that losing run to an end here.

Foxy Frida, Makram, and Belle Plaisir are three others to consider, but all arrive with form to prove.

Race 10: Filkel Handicap (1400m)

The final race of the day is another handicap contest where another stacked field will head down to post.

In keeping with the theme of most of the races on Saturday’s card, there are several horses that look to have a good chance of winning.

Chorlton Lane has three wins from his eight career starts and heads into the race having never finished outside of the top three. Once again, he looks like he will run a big race.

Extratwo is bound to be a popular selection. A winner of both her last two races, she boasts a 50% strike rate and looks more than capable of landing the spoils here.
